Dream... Very sad passing.

This dream was very quick, so there's no story. Just details.
In my dream, I'm at my Mom's. We turn to the TV news channel and learn of the sudden and unexpected passing of a major world figure. Natural causes.
Then my Dad is suddenly next to me. He's very sad. He hugs me for comfort.

I hate to travel

I remember the turmoil/emotions of this dream much clearer than the events. Here goes...

I was asked/required to go to a two day thingy/event in Ireland. It's Sunday night in the dream and I'm leaving Tuesday night.

All of I sudden I remember my passport is expired. My mom and sister are urging me to do a 24 renewal, but I'm too busy having a complete meltdown by screaming "I can't fly over the Atlantic! I can't fly over the Atlantic!"

Meanwhile, I realize my identity has been stolen by some people in another country (won't say which one.) So now I'm also freaking out upon realizing that I also need to deal with that.

Strange dream... Not much time for proper post...

Had a strange one last night. It was about the passing of a politician's wife. Let's call her "L". It was a shock to all in the dream, and either natural causes or an accident - nothing suspicious.

As far as I know, L is rarely in the news except to accompany her husband and she is in good health. It just felt very strange and sad and something more that I hope it isn't...

Dream 047 - clothing, possible earthquake, deaths, 9 am

It's been a long while. I'm sorry... I had some scarier dreams earlier this year, which turned out to have some eerie parallels to life and I got spooked. Last night I got a number of flashes of different scenes, so here goes...

*start of dream*

My cousin is standing next to me in the hallway of an old house. We are talking about normal stuff and when she's about to leave, she gets uncomfortably nervous. Then she asks me if she can borrow clothes because she has none. I go up the stairs and start digging through my suitcase, trying to find clothes that are both nice, but ones I won't want back - just in case. I bring them back to her downstairs. It occurs to me when I'm handing them over that I haven't listened to the news since the night before. I realize that something's wrong in the world and believe it to be a strong earthquake on the western coast, but won't know for sure until I check the news.

Upstairs, I tell a friend who's living in another bedroom that I had this awkward moment with my cousin. my friend tells me that she will need to go away in the spring because both of her grandparents on her mother's side will die. She doesn't seem too upset, just stating it as a matter of fact because she doesn't want to start making promises to others that she'll be around when she knows she won't.

Then I'm observing a classroom scene. It's a group of medical students preparing to write an exam, there will be two sittings and each student's name is written on the board next to one of the times - except one. His exam is being delayed due to a personal emergency. Someone is dying, he's upset, but he's still in class with everyone. Maybe he just got word.

As I wake up, it feels like 9:00. It feels like it so much that I can see multiple clocks in my mind displaying 9 am on the dot. Then I get a brief sense of worry, like 9 am makes me nervous. I don't know why.

* end of dream *

I woke up at 8 am this morning.

Dream 046 – a cult, university, my (secret) secret life

Let the dream count continue… It’s been a while since I’ve had some good dreams. Let me correct that. A LONG WHILE. It seems that the dream drought has ended, as I’ve been blessed with some rather interesting, entertaining, and strange dreams in recent days. Perhaps it is due to the change of season? Am I a seasonal dreamer???

Anyway, I will recount what I remember from one of the more memorable ones… Laugh if you like. My colleagues did when I told them at work the other day!

*start of dream*

I was a member of a sun worshipping secret cult. The followers believed that the sun would soon burn out for those who did not believe in its supreme being. We would flourish from the sun, grow our vegetables and survive while others would starve and perish. (Very culty, eh?)

It was an elaborate scheme to keep our society secret. We were operating out of a university and members would register to attend worship/class. As we did not want non-cult folk to join us, the class was only held in the last few weeks of the scheduled semester, by which time non-members would have given up on attending the class. We would congregate in an auditorium and watch presentations about what life would be life after the sun belonged to us alone. Then we would eat – only vegetables.

I, however, was a non-believer, too afraid to let it be known that I was not truly one of them.

Last dream of 2012

I need to start having better dreams. Last night, I had a very short dream that I was taking a test at work. I was ready to hand it in with five minutes to spare when I realized that I hadn’t even read the questions in full and had missed some sections on the questions. I didn’t panic. I didn’t really care.

Productive dream: a character, a setting, a story

On occasion I'll have a productive dream where I'll solve a problem that has eluded any daytime solutions. I'll wake in the middle of the night with a fully formed plan of action and then have trouble getting back to sleep because I'm too excited because I know that this dreamt up solution will work.

Something similar just happened. Only, my problem was actually a vague story idea that popped into my head an hour before bedtime and my dream solution was an early pivotal scene in my main character's development.

Now that I had this dream, I'm fully awake (perhaps also partly due to my hacking cough) and ready to fill in the blanks - what I just learned, what I still need to figure out.

Some of what I knew about this world and character before going to bed:
- There's not a lot of sunlight. When it's cloudy, it may as well be nighttime.
- It's cold, whether it's winter or summer. Winter is still the coldest and people dream of the relief brought by warm -10C days.
- Main character is a teenage girl.

What I now know thanks to my dream:
- Most people live in rural areas because they are more safe. The only ones who choose to live in cities are ones that need to - to be near hospitals or other resources.
- My main character is young, female and a runaway who's come to the city.
- My main character is dying.
- She thinks she knows what she's doing (her motives are based on the limited knowledge she has) only she doesn't really understand the world she's living in and is in fact putting herself in more danger needlessly.
